Art, Electronics, and Tennis

Second Full Day in Tokyo: Art, Electronics, and Tennis

Our second full day in Tokyo kicked off just like the first—with another fantastic breakfast at the Hyatt. After fueling up, we navigated the train system and made our way to Tokyo for a day filled with art and exploration.

Our first stop was the Western Art Museum, located in a beautiful park that was just begging to be explored. The park itself was a peaceful oasis amidst the city’s hustle and bustle, with plenty of green space to wander through before we even set foot in the museum.

The museum was a highlight of the day. The collection was impressive, and we were thrilled to see some works we’d never had the chance to view in person before. A few favorites stood out—Monet’s “Water Lilies” always captivates with its serene beauty, and his “Vétheuil” was another gem. We were also taken by “Lake Keitele” by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, with its striking, cool tones. And of course, Picasso’s “Couple” was a fascinating piece that sparked plenty of conversation.

After getting our fill of art, we headed out to explore Tokyo’s famous electronics district. The sheer amount of technology, gadgets, and neon signs was overwhelming in the best way. We wandered through shops filled with the latest tech, marveling at the sheer variety and some of the unique items we stumbled across. Max, especially, had a great time checking out the vintage Nintendo gear—getting a glimpse of gaming history was a real treat for him.

As the day wound down, we returned to the Hyatt for dinner. The meal was a great way to wrap up the day, with everyone enjoying a bit of downtime. While most of the group opted for a relaxing evening, Dakota and I decided to keep the energy going and headed out to Urayasu City Athletic Park for a game of tennis. It was a fantastic way to end the day, getting some exercise and enjoying the cool evening air.

Overall, our second day in Tokyo was a perfect mix of culture, exploration, and a bit of activity to top it all off. We’re looking forward to what the next day will bring as we continue our journey through Japan.
